The Colorblind Painter
David Hyman was diagnosed very young with color vision deficiency (“colorblindness”), David grew up viewing the world – or at least its color palette – differently from most people.
Despite his diagnosis, David has always remained undeterred in his pursuit of the visual arts. In fact, he has used his interpretation of colors to create drawings and paintings that invite viewers to see familiar scenes and everyday items from a new perspective.
David often creates pieces using only grays – and often in pencil. But when he wants to share his unique view of reality, David – “the colorblind painter” – creates works whose use and placement of color might challenge and surprise you.
