You Have Nothing to Paint? Look Again.

Welcome to the blog. If you’re here, you’re either an art lover, a bored internet wanderer, or someone who Googled “help I bought 32 paintbrushes and now I have anxiety.” Either way — You’re in the right place.

Let’s talk about the oldest excuse in the artist’s sketchbook:

> “I don’t know what to paint.”

To that I say: look around, blink, and stop overthinking it. Inspiration isn’t reserved for mountaintop gurus or tortured poets wearing berets and drinking espresso. It’s in your dog’s sideways glance. It’s in your kitchen sink. It’s in the half-eaten bag of chips you’ve been ignoring for three days. If you’re alive, — you’re surrounded by ideas.

As for me? I paint even though I’m colorblind.
Yes, you read that right.
I literally don’t see color the same way most people do — and I still paint.

Being colorblind doesn’t limit my art. It just means my blues might be browns, my reds might be greens, and my sunsets look like they’re melting into a bowl of miso soup.
And that’s… fine.
In fact, it’s kind of the point.

That’s what colorblindpainter.com is about — redefining what it means to “see.” It’s about creating freely, boldly, and sometimes a little weirdly. Who says grass has to be green? Maybe it’s pink in your world. Own it. Slap it on a canvas and call it “Flamingo Lawn.” Art doesn’t have to explain itself.

So if you’re sitting in front of a blank canvas wondering what to paint, try this:

Paint what made you laugh today.

Paint a memory from when you were five.

Paint your worst haircut. (That one’s always fun.)

Or better yet, paint what you feel like you want to avoid painting.

Art is not about being right. It’s about being real — and maybe a little messy along the way.

Now go make something messy turns beautiful faster than you think.
